Message by Secretary General of GNTO

AegeanDocs is a breath of our islands and the best form of the cultural tourism that we need. With Lesvos as your starting point, you have built a cultural network where collaboration is the main characteristic. Your success is great, considering the fact that you started with 6 cinema theaters and 3,100 viewers and last year you achieved 25,000 viewers watching movie shows in 15 cinema theaters. Well-known Greek and foreign filmmakers, documentary producers and cultural events journalists will discuss with viewers and with each other for almost a week. At the same time they will enjoy the Aegean Sea and the Greek islands. They will tour, taste and possibly be inspired for their next films and documentaries. The most important achievement is that through the AegeanDocs Festival you are uniting 9 border islands of Greece. I personally assure you as GNTO’s Secretary General that we will strongly support the North Aegean Region and the Municipality of Lesvos in their respective efforts to promote the region as a cultural destination, capable of providing a unique authentic travel experience to its visitors and residents. Please accept my warmest congratulations for all the organizers and those who have worked and embraced this very important initiative.
