Sacred Craft – Weaves of Crete (50,18’), Konstantina Palli, Greece

Weaving was the second highest ranking product exported by the Minoans, the first of course being olive oil. Up until modern times, this domestic skill continued to be a large- scale and highly profitable industry.

This documentary takes a look at how it remains ever-present in the mountain villages of Crete, where modern-day weavers describe their relation to this age-old craft as well as their connection to present-day reality.

Through interviews with people who are involved in varying aspects of the trade, we endeavor to shed light on a craft which is once again finding its rightful place in the modern world.
