In-Between (13'), Adrianna Guiman, Cuba/US/Romania
("In-between") portraits four families that inhabit a building situated at point zero of Cuba. They live in a universe of their own between seven hotels, in an area crowded with tourists. The attempts of renovating the building failed so far, but people keep their faith in the authorities and in the communist ideology. A famous actor, a horologist, a former teacher and a couple of former cabaret workers share their opinion about their realities, while they are watching the evening telenovela. Their stories are intertwined with the silent story of the building as a character. Might it be a good practice model against gentrification or just a big coffin?
