Beginning of colonization to the 18th century, there were a large number of Indians in the coastal region in the RN approximately 100 villages. Today Rio Grande do Norte has the lowest rate of indigenous population in the country. On attempts to stop the machines from knocking down the vegetation survive surrounded by farms and loggers struggle for recognition of society and against real estate speculation.
